I respect your opinion, but today when is world economist crisis no1. 50$ is lot of money for teens (most of "share-mates" are teens) my friend. my point is give (find) a possibility for everyone to use legal! - buddha

Sorry but I cannot believe that you are balking about spending $50-80 per YEAR to have access to multiple templates from these providers. Not only do most of them offer their templates but most of them also include additional extensions in their clubs. It still amazes me that people are so damn cheap when it comes to offering quality templates and software for their clients. Only a hobbyist web designer would do such a thing as complain about these low prices that these clubs offer their customers. Most other template providers outside of the Joomla communities charge at lease the same amount for a SINGLE template. Perhaps you should spend some time building sites for real clients that can really justify these costs. If you aren't then you are wasting your time with those clients that are not. - Mike Carson

I think the problem is price. The cheapest membership cost 50+$ and that is lot of money, why they don't sell single license for 5-15$ without support?! it would be much better for everybody - buddha

@john - You would be very surprised at how easy it is for a developer of any Joomla extension to track who, where, and when an extension was installed without you ever even knowing it. They can also track from where their extension has been downloaded from. So don't think that Joomla devs aren't savy enough to have figured that out long ago.

@pratik -Stop making stupid excuses. If you are having to do illegal activities to run your business then you shouldn't be in business at all. Learn how to run your business properly and you wouldn't have to worry about paying for a subscription to as many template clubs as you need to. You think you are smart by changing some parameters and nobody would ever know what you did? You must be stupid to think that people won't catch up with you. Even posting this comment gave me and every one else reading it enough information for you to get busted. Now we all know where you are from, your email, and I know your IP address and username on this site and can easily pass this along to any of my template developer friends to track you down. Are you prepared to be prosecuted? Illegal is illegal. Bottom line. End of story! - Mike Carson

hi Mike Carson

thanks a lot for that.. but in any of the template there will be the params configuration file and if i ll change the parameter for the diffrent client and without telling joomla people can i use that or that is illegala and clients wont be ready to pay for the templates and so if u can suggest me something then ill be thankful.. and i have nearly 20 web sites running and i have downloaded some some templates from rapid share and i just changed the param file and eveyrthing is working fine now.. so now what exactly i should do as for every template if ill have to pay to the joomla people then i wont get more money as in india is very much competition and people will do the web sites for 150$ here so in that to run the buisness is difficult even.. so please suggest me something and if u can mail me to pratikmakhecha@gmail.com then ill be thankfull to u.. ill wait for your response mike - pratik

and how does a designer track his own designs ? they cant, not yet anyway...
anyone can say, mmm i saw the template, downloaded it and installed it..i didnt knew it was commercial...
and how should the developer know about it?
thats just it, they dont...
and if some home calling code is put into a template its edited out before the distro.
i think there are about 15 different developer templates you can get their templates for free on the web by simplate search.. - john

Hello Pratik,
If you are downloading ANY commercial Joomla template from anyone other that the commercial provider (JoomlaArt.com in your case) then yes you are doing an illegal act as no other site can legally distribute that commercially copy-written works. If you are using these illegally downloaded templates on your own sites or your client's websites then you should go to JoomlaArt's website and sign up and pay for the privilege of using them. - Mike Carson

I couldn't agree more with Mike's comments.

Here's something for people who download warez to think about:

If the creator of the software puts something dubious in the software, people will find out quickly enough and he'll lose his business and his home.

If a warez supplier puts something dubious in the software you'll lose your business (and potentially your home).

For your own sake, please don't do it. The software creator's got a good reason to keep his software clean and secure, whereas the "hacker" has no such motivation.

that's a funny story and over exaggerated a bit. you can only buy or take over domain names when they expire/renewed.joomlashowroom.com couldn't have any claim on the name in any way. jsharing is just one site and was the smallest of them all so why this story is beyond me..i can think of 4 major sites you don't pull done and they offer every joomla thing you can think of. is it a good thing ?...i cant judge that...but 3 years ago 2 programmers accepted some software i gave them with a $550 value.. I'm pretty sure that when you investigate all programmers computers you will find that at least 75% has illegal software running...,and why?...because its to expensive..
I have many subscriptions running with a value of $470 per year...because its worth the money and i want the support if needed. But many programmers as $100 per component and that's to much in my opinion, and if your lucky you get some updates during that year...,good example is Rapid Recipe,i bought it ..had 1 update now their gone, don't reply to whatever mail, ticket etc. - john

I agree with this post. no argument here. And it is a very noble action taken to buy the domain in order to shut it down.

But the one thing making me smile is the fact that a company that has been caught violating copyright twice (http://www.alltogetherasawhole.org/profiles/blogs/is-joomlart-violating-the-gnu) by taking someone else's script, modifying it and change the copyright to his name; is the same one buying a domain and its right in order to shut down a warez site!

Is this a redemption move or a marketing move?

But again, i'm not question the action itself. - pingpong

These sites are dangerous at best. I can't help but warn people that this is the quickest way to get your server hacked and sites trashed quickly. Don't download from these sites. Buy the software and support the developer. - Eric
